Art for All Policies

  • Session tuition is due in full upon registration. If space is available, students may join after the start of the session at a pro-rated session rate due in its entirety on the day of the first class arranged. All class tuition includes supply fees. $10 sibling discount per session applies.
  • Please try to attend all your class times, as we do not schedule make-up lessons.
  • $25 NSF check fee applies.
  • Payment options include check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We also now offer automatic drafts.
  • No refunds for session withdrawal.
  • All pottery and ceramics students will receive a one 25lb. bag of clay per sessions and kiln firings for the quantity of clay provided. Also, they will receive a set of glazes. Students are responsible for labeling, sealing, and maintaining their clay. Bags may be stored between classes on assigned shelving. Additional bags of clay are available at $14/bag. Additional 6 glaze sets are available for $20.
  • All pottery & ceramics students are required to supply their own tool kit. Tool kits are available for purchase at the WAC for $20.00. Students are encouraged to bring their own towels and a small bucket. Please label all personal belongings.
  • Class projects require several weeks from start to finish. A clay form must be created, air dried, bisque fired, decorated, re-fired, glazed, then placed in a final firing before completion. Advance planning is required to complete projects by the last class period. All projects must be ready for a final firing by the conclusion of the second to last class meeting.
  • Date and initial all pottery projects. Any unlabeled or unclaimed pottery remaining at the end of the term will be discarded or recycled for future projects. If you are unable to collect your projects at the end of the term, please notify the instructor and arrange a special pickup.
  • Approximately 15-20 minutes are required at the end of each class for cleaning the studio. All students must participate in returning the studio to its original condition (or better). Work surfaces, floor areas, tools, equipment, and furnishings must be cleaned prior to leaving. Thoroughly wash, dry and return all tools and materials to their appropriate locations. Ask the instructor for clarification, if you are uncertain about cleaning requirements or storing tools and supplies.
  • All uncontaminated clay is recycled. Place any unwanted clay and heavy slip in the slip bucket. Tools and trays heavily saturated with clay must be pre-washed in the wash bucket provided on/near the outside patio. Only clear water is allowed down the sink drain! The sink area is for final rinsing and temporary drying only. Both the sink area and drying rack must remain clear.
  • Two or three community kiln firings will typically occur each week, including at least one cone 04 bisque firing, and one cone 06 glaze firing. Only dry and properly prepared pottery will be fired. Kiln ready pottery must be clearly labeled, dated, and staged in appropriate locations within the kiln room before leaving class. Pottery firing will be prioritized based upon date, size, quantity and demand.
  • Kiln temperatures and firing schedules have been developed around a specific palate of materials, and to handle the volume of projects generated by each student using standard clay amounts distributed. Additional supply fees may be assessed for special oversized projects or excessive quantities of pottery fired. Students electing to purchase specialty products or clay in excess of 50lbs. per term may be required to schedule a special firing at an additional fee; see an instructor for details and non-peak hour scheduling.
  • Open studio practice hours are available for students currently enrolled in our pottery program. Students must sign in/out upon their arrival and departure at the WAC reception desk. Studio policies remain in effect! Open studio hours for 2008-2009 session are 4:00-7:00 Tuesdays and 9:30-12:00 Fridays.
